1. Key Findings
Cleveland County is ranked among the healthiest counties in the state of Oklahoma for
both health factors and health outcomes.
Population demographics of Cleveland County’s residents are 70.8% non-Hispanic white,
9.2% Hispanic, 5.3% American Indian & Alaskan Native, 5.2% non-Hispanic black,
4.7% Asian, and 0.1% Native Hawaiian/other Pacific Islander.
The incidence of STIs (specifically number of chlamydia cases) is 485.6 – this is nearly
threefold higher than the national number of cases, which is 161.2.
The percentage of persons who are uninsured is 13%, more than double the national
percentage of 6%.
The number of available primary care physicians is nearly double that of top U.S.
performers at 2,000:1 versus 1,030:1.

compared to sociodemographic information for the United States population taken from
the Bureau’s website is discussed in the table below. The population of Cleveland County,
OK is approximately 284,000 compared to nearly 328 million in the United States,
respectively. The percentage of population change from April 1, 2010 to July 1, 2019 for
Cleveland County was 10.9%, which was higher than the national average of 6.3%,
indicating that the population of Cleveland County is growing more quickly than the
nation’s. The percentage of persons under the age of 18 was similar between Cleveland
County and the nation at 21.2% and 22.3%, respectively. The percentage of persons age 65
and older is slightly lower than the national average at 13.8% compared to 16.5%,
respectively. The percentage of persons 65 years of age and under with a disability is
slightly higher than the national average at 9.5% versus 8.6%, respectively. The percentage
of population who are aged 16 years and above and are in the civilian workforce is slightly
higher than the national average at 65.6% compared to 63.0%, respectively. There is a
considerable difference in the percentage of women in the workforce in Cleveland County
(61.5%) compared to the nation (58.3%).
For race and ethnicity, the highest percentage of population is white alone (78.3%),
which is slightly higher than the national average of 50.8%. Of the minority
races/ethnicities, Cleveland County has a higher percentage of American Indian/Alaska

speak languages other than English (10.3% vs. 21.6%). In Cleveland County, percentage
of houses with a computer (94.0% vs. 90.3%), percentage of persons with a high school
