Nursing Education Seminar 2
Week 6:
Discussion Question 1:
How might assessment of quality in distance education differ from assessment of quality in
a traditional classroom setting?
, Public administration programs are by and large expanding their distance education to get in
touch with other time and place-bound learners. While certified institutions are becoming
concerned in documenting learning and teaching efficiency, the extent to which distance learners
are flourishing as compared to their traditional counterparts is of great importance to teaching
staff and the rest who are charged with appraisal. When giving a comparison of the student
performance between the two areas, it is evident and can be concluded that the performance of
learners as measured by grade is independent of the method of instruction (Moore & Kearsley
2011). Perseverance in a distance environment might be extra demanding in research methods
classes than in the rest of public administration classes. Participation might be not as much of
threatening, and the quantity and quality of contact can be greater than before in distance
learning.
Enrolment rate in distance learning is increasing at an alarming rate as compared to
traditional classroom enrolment expansion particularly in higher education. Agreeing with the
growth of distance education, university education programs at the moment are wrestling with
how to act in response to yet-escalating responsibility hassle. This concern involves the federal
government’s alarm with accrediting bodies providing proof that learners arrive at expressed
education goals (Moore & Kearsley 2011). The public administrations programs are also not
exempted in this. The expansion of these two trends absorption in the modern-day education
surroundings raises a query about the efficiency of distance learning specifically as compared to
traditional classroom education as well as in relation to individual student perception, learning
result and also the needs of the learner.
Researchers in the education field have continuously explored the impacts of learning
surroundings in relation to education end results. For instance Walberg and Hertela (1981)
