Story 1: It was in the year 1997 and we wanted a baby bother for your sister and since I couldn’t get pregnant the only other option was to adopt, now with it being just after Apartheid the logical decision for us would be to adopt a White little baby boy but I wasn’t raised to see colour so I adopted a black baby boy only weighing 2.5 kilograms we sat with a bit of a dilemma when it came to naming you as your father wanted to name you his full names but I did not like the idea of you having a full family name so we went with a half family name and half of a modern name that I liked very much thus you got the name “Phillip Dylan” that way you have a piece of our family heritage always with you as well as a piece of your own new identity to carry forward with you. – This story was from my mom and how I got my name her name is Reinette Badenhorst.
