Module 01
Pain assessment- Provocation (cause), quality, region of the body, severity, timing PQRST
Visceral pain- Pain originating in the internal organs in the thorax, cranium, or abdomen
Deep somatic pain- ligaments, tendons, bones, blood vessels, nerves
Cutaneous pain- Superficial pain usually involving the skin or subcutaneous tissue
Maslow’s- Physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, self-actualization
Mobility- ability of an individual to perform physical movement
Mobility interventions- Passive ROM, repo, skin assessment, nutrition, breathing exercises,
mobility aids
Immobility consequences- Osteoporosis, contractures, pressure ulcers, constipation, anorexia,
renal calculi
Hygiene
Bowel Elimination- Occurs as a result of food and fluid intake and ends with passage of stool
Bladder Elimination- occurs as a result of multiple kidney processes and ends with the passage
of urine
Vital Signs- HR (60-100), R (12-20), T (96.4-99.5), BP (120/80), O2 (94-100%)
Rest and Sleep- activities related to obtaining restorative rest and sleep to support healthy, active
engagement in other occupants
Module 02
Therapeutic Communication- Active listening, establishing trust, being assertive, validating
messages, exploring issues, using silence
