Organizational Culture and Climate
In this paper the organizational culture and climate of Western Reserve Hospital will be
examined. Included elements of this paper are the mission and vision of the organization, how
the culture and climate play a role, and identified strengths and weaknesses. The environment of
the organization will be evaluated as well and the ability to support a healthy work environment
for employees and patients. The role of leadership in the organization will also be explored, as it
plays a role in organizational culture and climate.
Organizational Culture and Climate Analysis
Organizational culture guides an organizations operations, the culture is based on the
mission, vision, and overall goals of the organization. This plays a role in how decisions are
made and the climate of the organization. Skvarciany, 2015 describes the organizational climate
as the perception employees have of the work environment and how it affects their emotional and
physical well-being. An organizations culture has a direct impact on productivity, staff
satisfaction, and overall morale of the environment. It is important to assess the culture of an
organization to determine if it is effective and in alignment with the mission, vision, and goals.
Western Reserve Hospital’s culture was assessed using the seven categories below.
Physical Environment
The visual appeal of the environment is very welcoming, color and décor is modern. At
every entrance there is an art mural that features local artist. Waiting areas are guest friendly that
feature natural color, various sized furniture that welcomes guests of every size. Signage
throughout the hospital is consistent and easy to use as a navigation guide. Patient rooms are
clean, modern furniture and hospital bed. Every room feature a window with modern window
