HOURLY ROUNDING ON PATIENTS
Abstract

In this research brief I am examining the effects of hourly rounding being implemented. During
this research the QSEN competency of safety will be used and focused on. The Studer Group is
the supporting organization for this Capstone Project I have chosen to implement at a community
hospital on one specific medical-surgical unit. In this study patient fall rates will be looked at
extensively, along with call bell use and provider compliance. An hourly rounding educational
tool and in-service was provided to the staff members on the unit and this Capstone Project went
live on March 2, 2020 with all staff members employed on that floor and all patients admitted
onto the acute medical-surgical floor.
