Communication
Is the process of interchanging information by speaking writing, using gesture or using some other medium
to facilitate the successful conveying for sharing information, ideas and feelings.
Creation and transmission of information between people who work together to achieve organizational
goals.
Models of communication
Linear or transmission communication
Is a type of communication were messages are transmitted from one source to another or one way
communication.
Interactive model
Is a type of communication that is two way communication were by messages are transmitted from one
person to another then receive feedbacks.
Transactional model
Is a type of communication were by people exchange messages to create relationships involves socialites
and cultural.
Sender
-A person who starts or initiates a conversation to a receiver through a particular channel.
The purpose of communication is to express feelings, imagine, inform, instruct, advise, influence and
implement.
Encoding is the process of turning thoughts into communication
Recipient or Receiver
A person who receives a message interpret it ,analyze and understand it in both ways intended and
unintended by the source.
Decoding is the process of turning communication Into thoughts

A particular meaning or content the sender wishes the receiver to understand
The channel
Is a source or method a sender use to send a message to a receiver, mostly common channels used by
humans to send messages are verbal and Non Verbal Communication
Verbal Communication

, Is a type of communication were we speak using sign language., writing, newspapers, radio, voice-mail
messages ect.
Non Verbal Communication
Is a type of communication were using gesture, facial expressions, paralanguage ect
Digital channel
Are channels or sources used to pass through messages which may utilize both Verbal and non verbal
Communication eg Phone, Face to Face video conferencing, emails.
Noise or Communication barrier
Anything that destructs the receiving of the information or messages. Noise could be internal or external.

Physical, Physiological, Psychological and Semantic
Types of barriers
Psychological barrier
A barrier communication that is related to factors that affect human mind such as memory, attention and
perception.
Semantic barrier
Type of a barrier were there an misunderstanding between 2 people due to different meaning of words
Physical or Environmental barrier
A type of a barrier that describes obstacles in the environment that are either positive or negative affect the
communication.
Physiological Barriers
A type of a barrier that are related to factors that affect the human body eg headaches, poor eyesight,
hearing difficulties.
Context – Environmental, Place and Condition
Cultural Context- Beliefs, Values, Attitude, Meaning and Religion.
