1. How do we assess gait?:
observe as the person walks 10 to 20 feet, turns and returns to the starting point.
Look for arm swing, smooth and rhythmic movement, step length, coordination

3. What is tandem walking?:
person walks in straight line heel to toe. Look for deviations in this pattern or
if they sway.
4. How do we do the Romberg test?:
the person stands up with feet together and arms at sides with eyes closed.
They must hold position for 20 seconds without moving or swaying
5. Negative Romberg test:
no swaying or movement for 20 sec with eyes closed and feet together
6. Positive Romberg test:
loss of balance, swaying, extra movement
7. bicep reflex:
Reflex which tests nerves C5-6

you support the person forearm, place thumb on biceps tendon and strike.
Normal response is contraction of biceps and flexion of forearm
