Handwashing can reduce the risk of respiratory infections by 16%” (Hygiene Fast Facts,2016). Teaching Plan Criteria: Nursing Diagnosis: Risk for infection related to not properly washing hands. Readiness for Learning: Emotional: Show up ready to discuss/ contribute to class, participants are attentive, and demonstrate technique taught back to teacher Experiential: Participants are participating, asking questions, and actually practicing handwashing Learning Theory to Be Utilized: The teach back method will be the learning theory I will apply to my presentation on handwashing. Participants will explain the health information in their own words after the information has been taught to them, allowing the teacher to assess how well they have explained or taught the participants, regardless of health literacy. Healthy people 2020 and Alma Ata have similar goals which is ensuring better health outcomes for all, backing the goal of increasing life expectancy. People must maintain a healthy lifestyle, and primary health care is the key to attainment of the goal of health for all.
