HMEMS80 - PORTFOLIO OF EVIDENCE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY | Taking this module in research methodology exposes me as a student to all the do's and don’ts of doing your research. This module is enabling me to not make common mistakes nor unethical I will definitely take caution when I do my research project to prevent any plagiarism and start will in advance so that I have enough time to complete my project This module has made me aware of all the various different ways of referencing books, website, articles and magazines I’m looking forward to learning from this module and seeing what it has installed for met QUESTION 51 In about 500 words (half-a-page) below, write to tell us about which aspects you think will help you to succeed in this module? The personal aspect that will contribute to me succeeding in this module is my determination I have to complete any task at hand. The working environment that I am exposed to gives me the discipline and determination to complete my studies By doing sports, this has helped me to focus on my short term and long term goals. One of my goals is to complete my Honours in Business Management 11 I will go to great extends to ensure I have ample time to enable me to focus on this subject to pass it comfortably. I can’t foresee too many aspects that will hinder my success in this module. The only one that comes to hand is time. Time is the only aspect that I will have to manage to perfection, because I need to juggle a well-balanced routine between work, studies and training for my sports. 1. B) Week 1 Looking back at the answers there is definitely a different view and lessons learned from this module and truths to some of the answers Firstly the truths, the fact that I’m going to learn a lot from this module is there no doubt about. I personally didn’t see any value in knowing how to write a literature review nor a research proposal. This view point has definitely changed and would personally recommend in learning how to write literature reviews in post-graduate studies. One aspect that will be noticed from my short comings is been able to do proper referencing. As seen in my first assignment report back, my biggest short fall were being able to do correct referencing. After my first assignment, I had to focus on getting the referencing short fall of mine under the belt. Another lesson learned from my first assignment is that I definitely under estimated the time it takes to properly prepare for my research proposal. Doing the second and third assignment. I have ensured for enough time to prepare and submit it. It has definitely paid off for assignment 2 and hopefully it also does for assignment 3. 12 Doing sport is for sure a helpful doing this module, because this was my first experience in writing a literature review and research paper and it is inevitable that I going to fail at some point in this module and luckily for me it was in the first assignment. Where sports helped me, is it taught me that you will not succeed from the first point but it is how you pick yourself up to succeed from there onwards. I had to re-evaluate my time management when I started doing my first assignment because half way through my first assignment I knew I haven’t spent enough time in preparing for it and ended up rushing through the assignment and receiving the marks for rushing through it. 2. A) Week 6 Question 11 In one or two paragraphs, tell us how you feel about qualitative methods in research? Do you anticipate using qualitative methods in your research? Yes, I would prefer to make use of qualitative methods, because the answers you will receive will hold a lot more value that will enable you to make better and calculated judgements. This will ensure you give concrete conclusions that will either verify or contradict your hypothesis. Question 12 In a paragraph or two, indicate how at ease you are with descriptive and correlational methods? I have a clear understanding of the difference of descriptive and correlation research methods. My understanding of descriptive research is when you do a research without the intention to proof that there is a relationship between variables that is a descriptive 13 research. When there is an intention to proof a relationship between variables it is called a correlation research. 2. B) Week 6 Looking back to my answer I’m glad I decided to go with quantitative research methods because if I had to work through a sample of 2500 learners that all give me qualitative answers then working through that volume of data would have been a lengthy process and would have been practical to work through. I would recommend qualitative research when your sample is a small amount. My understanding hasn’t changed for descriptive and correlation research. It has for a matter of fact became clearer when I had to apply this to my research proposal. 3. A) Week 13 Question 11 How easy or difficult did you find the writing of a research proposal? Are there particular aspects that you struggled with or enjoyed? What do you think will be most difficult for you to manage in writing a research proposal in the future? I would say writing is moderate difficult when it comes to writing. The only thing about writing is it takes a lot of time and practices to master and be able to do it efficiently. This is a challenge for me writing a research proposal because it consumes a lot of time to plan and write. As soon as you approach the end of you research review that feel you experience when you read the final draft of the research proposal, is satisfying and rewarding. You get a sense of accomplishment when you submit a proposal. 14 Question 12 Now that you have completed the content for this module, how do you think you will apply the newly acquired skills in your work context in the future? To what extent do you think you will apply these skills in your work context in the future? Do you think that gaining these skills have made you more employable? Explain how you see it and give some examples.
