NCERT Reference: Class VII, Science, Chapter 2 – “Nutrition in animals”
Theme: “Where God cooks, there is no smoke.” A Zambian Proverb
Learning Outcome: Learners understand how animals digest food; learner also realize how patience and
perseverance make them future-ready.
Learning Relic: Solar oven (Green Chef)
Step 1_ Creation: Learner initiates learning and creates a seed idea
● As you have learnt, we cannot make our own food so we eat plants or other animals to gain
nutrients.
● But, do you know how plants cook their food? How do they gain their nutrients?
● Go to your garden and ask your favourite plant the question: “How do you cook your food?”
● Assume that the plants speak silently with their leaves facing the sun: “I cook my food in the
sun!”
● Yes, it is a cool idea: “Plants cook green; they cook in the sun!”
● The seed idea I have got out of my exploration: “Cook like plants, cook green!”
Step 2_ Celebration: Learner celebrates the discovery of seed idea and creatively communicates it
Verbal and linguistic intelligence: Describe your encounter with the plant that led you to the
discovery of the seed idea into a perfect narrative.
Interpersonal Intelligence: Imagine you are interviewing the plant after sumptuous green meal.
Put down the dialogues between you and the plant into a piece of paper.
Bodily-Kinaesthetic Intelligence: Celebrate with plants with a new form of dance, called green
dance. You shall imitate the movements of your favourite plant in the wind to develop a one-
minute dance!
Visual and Spatial intelligence: Portray your favourite plant in its “hungry mode” and in its
“happy mode” on a paper.
Intrapersonal intelligence: Withdraw to your inner silence, just like a plant silently cooking its
food in the sun!
Musical Intelligence: Sing a happy song to celebrate with your favourite plant, nourished in the
sun. Or develop a poem on the happy plant and sing in front of others.
Logical-Mathematical intelligence: Using a graph, describe the change in the moods of a plant,
from its hungry state to the state of fullness.
Naturalistic Intelligence: Surf the internet or books to understand the different processes
involved in the plant cooking under the sun.
