Breast Cancer:
Most Common malignant condition of the breast, second leading
cause of death in women

Type: Ductal Carcinoma in situ(non-invasive) (DCIS) cancer cells are in the
duct and have not invaded surrounding tissue.
Lobular Carcinoma in situ (LCIS) cells in the lobules appear to be
cancerous but are NOT cancer. Increased risk for breast cancer.
Invasive Breast Cancer:
Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma- cells originate in the mammary duct and
Metastasis to surrounding tissue.
Risk Factors:
Lack of exercise, Family History, Diet, Alcohol Consumption, Obesity,
Not breast feeding, breast implants, smoking, medications ( birth
control, Hormone therapy), no pregnancies
S/S: Lump in breast, swelling, skin irritation, dimpling, breast pain, nipple
pain, nipple turning inward, redness, scaliness, thickening of the
nipple, unusual discharge, lump in armpit
Screenings/Prevention:
Family HX, Self-breast exam, Clinical breast exam, Mammogram

Ultra sound, Biopsy,
