In the absence of a professional, the patient’s daily care requires following certain orders thus the patient participation is required. Negotiation can use a mutual participation model in which the two parties act as equals when negotiating. 2. Explain how the change in the patient's status through the years has affected patient education. Through the years, the patients’ education has been increasingly affected by the patient’s status. This is caused by aging where a person becomes more alert and aware on how age is associated with age. As a result, many tend to research more on healthy living to avoid getting sick often. Heath care professionals have therefore adopted an improved patient-doctor education to counter the increased awareness. 3. List the pros and cons of negotiation. Negotiation using the partnership-building language has the following pros: in expressing health worries, preferences and concerns regarding treatment, it encourages patients to get professional advice: seeking opportunities and understanding options of health care has been facilitated by negotiations as to answers health questions of patients: it accommodates patients’ request on additional information and their perspective acknowledgement: in decision making process, negotiation encourages patients to actively participate.
