ENG 105 Topic 3 DQ 1 As the name implies, visual rhetoric means the part of communication that involves what is seen, including colors, forms, and the way what we are seeing is laid out on the page. Font type and size can also be included in visual design. The term rhetoric can sometimes cause confusion, so for clarity’s sake; here it means techniques used for the sake of persuasion. Re: Topic 3 DQ 1 Prof and class, The CDC's ADHD webpage shows a powerful and persuasive image found by clicking on the What is ADHD? link. in the "Other Concerns and Conditions with ADHD" page. It is the image next to the Learning Disorder heading in the middle of the page. It shows what looks to be a teacher assisting a struggling student with his classwork. What makes this image powerful is that it shows the reality of how a child who has ADHD struggles in the school setting. It also shows the educator who is responsible for helping that student succeed academically. As a teaching assistant in an middle school I worked in a classroom where the students were blended academically. This can be seen regularly in the classroom with a child that has ADHD because they are just trying to concentrate and stay focused. The purpose of this image is to show a child with ADHD who also may have a learning disability, which can lead to serious struggles academically in school. The image, along with the information under the heading, should sway a parent to get the proper diagnosis of each disorder and find the right treatment for their child so they can succeed in school.
