Primary –Prevention of disease, preceding symptoms
o Immunizations, health promotion education
Secondary-To reduce progression of disease or dysfunction. Onset of symptoms
o Screening, prompt intervention, dental exams
Tertiary- Return to optimal functioning. Prevent further disability.
o Rehab services, Palliative Care.

Intellectual background- (knowledge/lack of knowledge shapes the way a person thinks)
Perception of functioning –
Emotional factors- stress, depression, or fear influence health benefits.
Spiritual factors- (jehovahs witness forbidding blood transfusions)

Assessment- subjective & objective data
Diagnoses- signs & symptoms. Life processes / potential health problems. Problms that result from disease.

Implementation: Action of plan. Implementing services.
Evaluation follow up. Did it work? Evaluation of progress.
