Introduction
Walmart and other local stores have competed for the existing markets for a long time. For
Walmart to be considered better, they have to gain a competitive advantage over the local stores.
The different ways of gaining a competitive advantage can be met in numerous ways, including
pricing, commodity freshness, level of customer service, and the presence of after-sale services.

According to research conducted by Niedt, Walmart offers a better price on their goods and
groceries (Niedt, 2021). In a world that one has to maximize reducing the cost of living, Walmart
provides a perfect opportunity for shoppers to actualize this. The local stores also use this
strategy, but others are focused on a specific market, be they high class or low class.

they have the consumer's needs in mind. However, since many people own local stores as
business startups, it is normal to find them more in number than Walmart (Boyd, 2017). This
makes local stores more convenient than Walmart as they are easily accessible (Hicks et al.,
2019). Walmart runs ten thousand stores globally while local stores are more than three million.
Particularly, convivence is not all that matters to the consumer as their culture and health needs
can influence their choice. Therefore, the customer needs can shift the competitive edge towards
