The medical profession is sensitive and therefore requires ethical codes to guide nurses in
maintaining professionalism. Care coordination in nursing homes is dependent on core ethical
considerations and policies to provide quality patient-centered care. Nursing code of ethics that
includes confidentiality, patient rights for autonomy, and government and local policies define
efforts nursing homes execute for improved care coordination. The government, through
policies, facilitates comprehensive care and coordination plan for the people. Notably, there exist
medical bodies that check and analyze medical services execution by authorized medical
practitioners do not go against the rules. Health information and relevant data are available to the
patient and medical professionals to ensure a proper coordination plan. However, with the
advanced technology, the information might land in untrustworthy hands affecting the care
coordination plan. Therefore, the government and medical bodies have enacted health policies to
ensure efficient care and coordination plans.
Governmental policies that affect the coordination of care.
The core objective of comprehensive care and coordination plan is to facilitate patient
care efficiently. The federal government plays various roles in the American health care system.
It has policies extensively guiding the care coordination plan. An example is the TPO
(Treatment, Payment and Healthcare Operations) health policy, which affects nursing homes'
care coordination plan. Each of the three terms in (TPO) represents a core healthcare activity, but
they operate as a group due to privacy laws. Treatment refers to the care nurses provide to the
patient, payment is the billing and collection activities, and healthcare operations the business
activities such as training of healthcare professionals. TPO policy offers nurses and other
medical professions an attributive outline explaining how they should perform their profession.
