According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2017), Stroke is the fifth
leading cause of death in the United States. For about 610,000 people die of heart disease in the
United States every year, That is 1 in every four deaths.(CDC,2017).High Blood Pressure, high
cholesterol, and smoking are a risk factor for heart diseases(CDC,2017) as well as stroke. In this
week discussion am choosing case study three,

The Scenario I have chosen is case study 3; Patient CB has a history of Strokes. The Patient has
been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Drugs currently
prescribe include following
● Glipizide 10 mg PO daily
● HCTZ 25 mg daily
● Atenolol 25 mg PO Daily
● Hydralazine 25 mg qid
● Simvastatin 80 mg daily
● Verapamil 180 mg CD daily
An advanced practice nurse has to encounter the patients with such disorders. So it is
important to understand the pharmacotherapy for cardiovascular disorders. In this given
scenario, the patient has a history of hypertension, stroke, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and
