Usability and Experience of Iphone (XR)
a) Pros:
Security – Facial recognition/password to access the device, iOS security.
Ease of access – All the apps are one click away. Functionalities like flash light and
Camera can be accessed without getting into the phone. Ability to prioritize dashboard
applications and group specific category of applications.
Apple Pay – Always good to have an easy backup if I forget my wallet.
Cons:
Power off – Turning off the device requires selecting the power and volume button which
sometimes creates screenshots.
Siri – Poor voice recognition system (in comparison to competitors).
Contacts – No option to create add a new contact from messaging interface.
b) User Experience: It’s very easy to use the iPhone once you get past the initial learning
phase, almost to the extent that I’ve been using iPhone for last 10 years. It has been just
easy to upgrade to a newer model without having to worry about initial jitters. I find it
easy to move between applications and sort them accordingly. I also opt for frequent
automated updates, which I think makes my experience much more full-filling. One big
downside for me is that, power button is not a click. Between turning off the phone and
accessing Siri, I’ve created several annoying screenshots. Although I don’t use Siri as
Often, I feel that it is lacking in many ways, I’d like to use Siri more and type less. But
overall, it’s a very pleasant and smooth experience.
