Motility Testing
Part 1: Direct Observation of Motility

Observe the preparation and record any observations of motility.

I didn’t see any observations of motility directly. After incubation, I was able
to see the motility more clearly. After the tubes were incubated, the tubes
showed great motility. Without the incubation, there was not much motility.
The tubes were just clear. Some of them had a couple of things floating
around but that was it.


Part 2: Motility Tubes

After incubation, observe the tubes and record any observations of motility.

There was motility growth in the S. epi tube. It was shaped like a “tornado”
and was clearly able to see. The “tornado” was clear and opaque with some
black dots throughout. There was not much growth in the other three tubes.
There were a couple of things floating around in the other tubes, but other
than that there was no growth.
Below is a picture of the tube with the visible motility. The E. coli tubes had
almost no visible growth.
