NUR502 Topic 2 Discussion Question 2 What is the role of the Advanced Professional Nurse in creating an ethical practice environment? Respond to this question, based on your selected APN role. Ethics is a topic that encompasses all areas of health care and affects all health care providers. These are the principles that decide the choices that we make and those which should be taken into consideration in the care of all patients. As nurses, it is our responsibility to respect our patients using the four core principles of health care ethics which includes autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice. An advanced professional nurse has a responsibility to ensure that they are a leading example to others. One of the ways that this is evident, is by practicing and providing care to patient’s which reflects and respects the patient’s decisions (The American Nurse, 2015).
