NUR502 Topic 3 Discussion Question 2 Read the AACN documents for essentials of baccalaureate versus master's education and identify the competencies that reflect use of theory and knowledge. Compare and contrast the competencies for baccalaureate and master's level. Based on the American Association of College of Nursing (AACN) documents for essentials of Baccalaureate and masters education, there are many similarities because the Baccalaureate is the stepping stone to a Masters education. They are similar in that, nurses in both levels of education do competencies in regards to nursing interventions that influence individual, populations, families, groups and communities (AACN, 2008) (AACN, 2011). Both explain the interrelationship among theory, practice and research and ensure nurses are using evidence based practice to carry out any nursing care (AACN, 20108) (AACN, 2011). Both Baccalaureate and Masters Programs teach nurses the importance of lifelong learning and staying up to date with the changes in healthcare.
