NRS 493 Topic 4 DQ 1 Why is understanding the health care system at the local level important to consider when planning an EBP implementation? Conduct research and solicit anecdotal evidence from your course preceptor that you will take into consideration for your own change project. According to research local level of health care would be crucial especially when considering funding or resources (Nursing Ace, 2019). Community and culture would be important to determine participation levels and acceptance which plays into whether the implementation would be successful. When speaking to my preceptor about the health care system and local level the importance we discussed that the area is very small which means there is a big importance of knowing resources, funding, and gaining support. For implementations to be successful you need someone willing to follow them. Culture of the local area must also be considered when planning you want to find a way to include the community and in this specific project find a way to change the way the community looks at violence toward health care members, providers, nurses. Considerations must come into play as well as how to appropriately implement based on ability to understand and willingness for changes. Training is another resource that must be carefully planned out with such a small area specialized training can be hard to come by. In this area specifically you must be very aware of laws and authorities because we are literally 30 minutes away from the Texas border and there is a lot of change once you enter Tx states. My preceptor also mentioned that having the knowledge the nursing scopes of practice are very different and specialties available just over an hour away can be very helpful. A lot of our higher sources of care are going to go to Lubbock Tx which is why some of these areas must be well known.
