NRS 493 T4 DQ2 Compare and contrast two change theories, and determine which theory makes the most sense for implementing your specific EBP intervention. Why? Has your preceptor used either theory, and to what result? Two theories: Change Theory- Kurt Lewin 3 stages: the unfreezing stage, moving stage and refreezing stage Depends on the presence of driving and resistant forces. For success, the driving force must dominate the resistant force. Innovation diffusion model- Rogers 5 stages: awareness, interest, evaluation, implementation and adoption. applied to long-term change projects. successful when nurses who ignored the proposed change earlier adopt it because of what they hear from nurses who adopted it initially (Oguejiofo, 2018). For my specific EBP implementation I would say that Innovation diffusion model makes mores sense because there is such a driving force of providers and medical workers to find a way to make positive changes against violence which correlates with Rogers emphasis on the the "importance of including key people (i.e., policy-makers) interested in making the innovation happen, capitalizing on group strengths, and managing factors that impede the process" (Udod, &Wagner, n.d.). Although in the beginning many did not report incidents they are now finding that reporting is imperative in the change. Also this would be a long term change project rather than a quick process.
