WEEK 8 REFLECTION ON LEARNING
1. How have your attitudes changed about selecting appropriate medications based
on patient presentation and unique patient factors?
This class have been very enlightening, it has changed my perspective on how, when, and why I
need to take consideration and precautions dealing with the patient presentations and patient
factors when prescribing medications in the primary setting. It is not just about giving your
patients a drug or drugs that helps with whatever sickness or diseases involved but you need to
have awareness of their culture, beliefs and their background of other remedies that may be a
part of their lifestyle so you can give them best medication outcome.
2. How confident do you feel about selecting an appropriate pharmaceutical agent for a
patient with a specific diagnosis in the primary care setting? What resources are needed,
if any, to help you feel more confident?
I feel somewhat confident, but there was a lot of information that need to be retained and it will
take longer than an 8-week course. Also, I feel this class has offered enough information and
resources to refer back to and continue the self-learning process to stay informed and become
even more confident selecting an appropriate pharmaceutical agent for a patient with a specific
diagnosis in the primary care setting.
3. How has your understanding changed about determining the therapeutic effects,
adverse responses, and side effects of drug therapy?
The administration of medications involves far more than handing an ordered medication to
patients. The administration of medications entails the primary care provider application of
critical thinking skills, their professional judgment, their application of pathophysiology, and a
