Community-oriented nursing
Clients are individuals, families, groups, populations, or communities.
Major goal is to care for/preserve/protect/maintain the communities health (COMMUNITY = CLIENT)
Looks at the population, not just a sick person (screening BP and someone has high BP, look at what to
do for that population/community)
Health promotion and disease prevention!! of populations/ communities (can include acute and chronic
illnesses). Often long-term relationships outreach

Goal: take care of individual with disease/illness
Manage acute and chronic illness in the community
