- TYPES OF REPORTS
1. Informational report: It contains facts, data and/or points of information / very
objective (facts/data)
2. Analytical report: It´s based on facts but an analysis or evaluation has been added
(survey for eg, you don't give raw data, you analyse it and make it easier to read and
comprehend) (analysis/evaluation/facts/data)
3. Proposal report: The element of this is to be a persuasive report. You have an idea,
a goal and along with data and facts you make the report.

Purpose statement: a statement that clearly combines the aim of the report with
the content of a research question. Example:
- Problem statement: Recently, Tesla has experienced...
- Research question: What has caused the recent decrease in profit in Tesla?
- Purpose statement:
“This report will analyse the reasons that have caused the recent decrease
in…” Try not to put the research question in your first lines, just change it to
your purpose statement.
- Thesis statement: (answer to the research question) found in the conclusion of the
report.
Probably persuasive or proposal report, make sure to know how to make a purpose
statement

The parts in bold type are compulsory, the others are optional.
