Book Review: Hawkins and Clinton Assignment
Summary
The New Christian Counselor: A Fresh Biblical and Transformational Approach by
Hawkins and Clinton points out some key concepts for both integrative as well as Christian
counseling by the use of different theoretical concepts and resources. The primary goal of a
christian counselor is to stay skillful as well as restrictively Christian while keeping track and
maintaining focus on new developments within the counseling industry. It is also important to

major goal of Christian counseling is for the clients to abide by Christ faithfully by always
encouraging as well as reminding them of the role of God in their lives. The third chapter of the
book recognizes the human soul in different concentric circles. Besides, Hawkins and Clinton
highlight that human soul is composed of three different dimensions: psychological, physical, as
well as spiritual.
The fourth chapter highlights the relationship and attachment theory. According to
Hawkins and Clinton, they believe that the Lord is always present in every relationship that
