, Introduction
Sunlight Hospital in California is experiencing some major complaints from their
patients. Although patients generally like the hospital, one of those complaints is the quality of
care they have experienced. Patients seem to believe that employees are too busy and do not
spend time interacting with patients. As the hospital administrator, I have been tasked with
understanding the state of the hospital, creating value, increasing efficiency, and turing Sunlight
Hospital into patients’ facility of choice. Leadership has asked that I compile a report of my
findings and suggest a strategy for achieving the hospital's current goals. Areas I will focus on
are the five measurements of quality in health care specifically as they relates to emergency and
inpatient care, quality of care improvement plan, and how Sunlight Hospital can use quality of
care to create a competitive advantage.
Classify five (5) measurements of quality of care in a hospital, and justify the primary
reasons why you believe these measures matter to patients in their process of choosing a
hospital for emergency or inpatient care.
One would examine a health care organization and compose many different
measurements that determine the quality of care. The measures that have been chosen are patient
satisfaction, mortality rates, complication prevention, patient safety, and readmission. Each of the
measures mentioned could determine whether or not one would select Sunlight Hospital as his or
her health care provider.

Of the five measurements listed, patient experience and patient satisfaction is the only
