At a young age, Mussolini became a giftedwriter. He was a journalist and knew how to drive the public’s fears and dreams. He learned howlanguage could implement changes. All Mussolini wanted to be was powerful, and he discoveredhow to shape a nation. During his time as Italy’s dictator, he viewed himself as a politician who was above the law. In this paper I will analyze Benito Mussolini’s power and aspects that relate to foreign policy, violent movements for change, government authorities and loss of personal liberties. Foreign Policy Benito Mussolini wanted to show the whole world just how mighty he was. This requiredItaly’s foreign policy to be forceful. Under his leadership, Mussolini wanted to re-establish the significance of the Roman Empire. He announced that he was going to make Italy great again and give a new name and idea to Italians. He wanted the world to see them as warriors. Mussolini assumed that if he seized foreign territory, it would show the world that the Roman Empire was a great nation and a had extreme power. (Italy’s Foreign Policy, 2015) Mussolini pushed the aspect of war because it was a distraction. He wanted to unite the public under one nationalist agenda, and he wanted to build an empire. In 1896, Ethiopia defeated the Italian armyafter Italy fought to conquer it at the turn of the last century. Mussolini wanted to reclaim the losthonor. Italian forces invaded Ethiopia with chemical weapons that had been banned earlier in the Benito Mussolini: Video Analysis century. After seven months, Italians declared victory and the dictator got his empire. He waseven applauded by Adolf Hitler.
