Future new virus X

Due to the coronavirus, our 'normal' lives have been taken away for the past

two years. We had to go into lockdown several times and did things from home. We

have also lost people to the virus. That was a time most people do not want to go

through again in their lives. So It is important to be well prepared for a new virus

pandemic since we are not sure when a new pandemic comes, a new virus can be

hazardous for the human species, and we do need to know how to fight a new virus

as quickly as possible.

Firstly, a new virus can be dangerous because it may destroy the human race.

“If anything kills over ten million people in the next few decades, it is most likely a

highly infectious virus rather than a war.” (Cohen, 2019) When a virus enters the

body, it looks for cells to infect. The virus then makes millions of copies in the cell

and thus spreads the virus in the body. If the immune system does not get the virus

under control, the person gets sick (Davel, 2020). Sometimes a virus is so strong

that people die because our body does not have the antigens to get the virus under

control. It is even possible to die within twelve or so hours after the first symptoms

(Bowman, 2018).

Not to mention that technology our way is to stop a pandemic. We have made

viruses less deadly through the emergence of antibiotics and vaccines (Cohen,

2019). With a vaccine, we are injected with proteins from the virus. Our body then

produces antigens that neutralise the virus. If we then become infected with the

virus, our immune system starts working and sends antibodies. “Vaccine

development is a long, complex process, often lasting 10-15 years, ” According to
