The use of mobile devices and other electronic devices is now seen as a common tool in
health care, leading to the fast growing development of medical software applications. Such
applications are easily accessible to assist healthcare providers with many tasks such as information
gathering, patient management, monitoring and clinical decision making. As stated by Ventola,
mobile devices and applications provide many benefits for healthcare professionals, perhaps most
significantly increased access to point-of-care tools, which has been shown to support better clinical
decision-making and improved patient outcomes. (Ventola, 2014). The aim of this paper is to
explain and describe the name, the authors, endorsement, operation, purpose, aesthetics, safety,
privacy, credibility distribution and relevance of the MediCalc application. I will also make a
clinical scenario incorporating the MediCalc application.

ScyMed is a medical technology company that developed Medicalc.
Medicalc is an advanced, comprehensive medical calculation system that performs automatic
and integrated computations of clinical formulas, equations and scores that are commonly used
in the medical practice.
Authors
MediCalc application was created by board certified physicians for physicians, residents,
medical students, physician assistant and nurse practitioners. (Scymed,2020). Arturo Rodriguez is
the president and CEO and founder of Medicalc. Ignacio Rodriguez is the senior Vice president
and Co-founder of the application. In addition, Greg I. Casar and Miguel Angel Pena are senior
Advisers.
