, Week 3-National Certification Study Plan
There are many reasons why a study plan is important for my success at Walden
University and for taking my National Certification for becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health
Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Essentially, a study plan will help me to stay on track and be
focused as I complete each progress goal and task associated with it. A study plan will help me
stay organized, which is needed to avoid utter chaos. And it is great for my overall mental health
because having organization will help in relieving stress related to clutter and procrastination.
The following paper will highlight my summary of strengths and opportunities for improvement
after taking the pre-test for certification review, as well as pointing out my goals and tasks
associated, with a timeline, to help guide in my success when taking the actual national
certification exam. I have also pointed out my plan for measuring my progress, and resources
that I plan to utilize throughout my studies.
Summary of Strengths and Opportunity for Improvement
After completing my pretest for the National Certification exam, I realized there is much
content that I am more comfortable with than expected, and definitely content that I need to
freshen up and do not feel confident at all. I felt the best way to analyze what my strengths and
weaknesses are was to investigate each area of the content map. I feel that my main strength in
the area of the scientific foundation was pharmacology and parts of the physical assessment
across the lifespan, specifically the adult population. Areas of improvement would include
assessment in the child and adolescent, as I don't have any experience with this population, and
pathophysiology, specifically neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, genomics, and epigenetics. I
would say my biggest strengths were in advanced practice skills, as a lot of this material such as
assessment, interviewing, obtaining a history and physical, intoxication and withdrawal, and
