Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital a 255-bed facility has been servicing the
community for over 30 years. It is a non-for-profit facility that gives back to its community. It is
near the Houston George Bush International Airport and serves those traveling through the area.
It is accredited as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program by the American
College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. In 2014, it was recognized as a Texas Top Value
Hospital by Verras Healthcare International, and as a health care system, it has ranked no. 4 as
one of the best places to work in the Houston Business Journals. Its target clientele is those in
Lake Houston and Kingwood area. It has a couple of services, some of the services are, home
care, hospice, and diabetes educations. The community relationships are “we value diversity and
inclusion and commit to being the best healthcare provider, employer, and partner.”
Examination of the Organization
The mission for Memorial Hermann Health System is a “non-profit, values-driven,
community-owned health system dedicated to improving health”. The organizational structure
that this facility represents is a functional structure. One way that it operates is by splitting
different specialties into their own departments, such as ICU, IMU, med-surg, surgical care, and
PACU; and each department has their own manager. Secondly, even though nurses work in
different departments we still have similar tasks that have to be performed. As a nursing service
we are going to give the same high quality of care to all our patients no matter of the condition
that they are in. Whether we work in a higher critical care department or not, the nursing
service that is expected within the facility will run the same throughout.
