Decrease IOP by reducing aqueous humor production.
acetazolamide (Diamox) Ans:- Oral medication for eyes
Decrease IOP by reducing aqueous humor production.
To dilate pupils,
To create eye paralysis to prevent lens movement.
IV mannitol Ans:- Is an osmotic diuretic used in the emergency tx for angle
closure glaucoma to quickly decrease IOP.
Prednisolone acetate (Pred Forte) Ans:- Opthalmic solution
Ocular steroid used to decrease inflammation.
Cycloplegic mydriatic (Atropine 1% Opthalmic solution) Ans:- Prevents pupil
constriction for prolonged periods of time and relaxes muscles in the eye. It
is used to dilate the eye preoperatively and for visualization of the eyes
internal structors.
Long duration, but fast onset.
Effects of med can last 7-14 days
Can cause photosensitivity, so remind clients to wear sunglasses to protect
th eyes.
zolmitriptan (Zomig) Ans:- Is a medication used to treat headaches.
Causes cranial arteries, the basilar arteries, and blood vessels in the dura
mater to constrict.
Abortive therapy for treatment of migraine headaches.
metoclopramide (Reglan) Ans:- Used as an antiemetic to relieve nausea and
vomiting.
zolmitriptan (Zomig), sumatriptant (Imitrex), eletriptant (Replax) Ans:-
Produce vasoconstrictive effect
NSAIDS with beta-blockers Ans:- Preventive therapy for frequent headaches
or when other therapies are ineffective.
