Analysis
Identify the Need - This stage of data analysis is very important because is decides on
what data needs to be collected and what you will be analyzing about it, this is normally
given by the client but can be given by the team leader.
Define the Scope - The collection process needs to ensure that the data gathered are
both defined and accurate, so that subsequent decisions based on the findings are
valid. This stage provides both the baseline from which to measure, and a target on
what to improve.
Identify Potential Sources - This stage is when you vette the places of opportunity of
getting your information and data from. A wide option should be given which provides
good cover and relevance to the subject without the chance of bias
Source and Select - At this stage the information is gathered and the best is selected,
this process uses information like figures from sales, average GPD etc. this process i
used to exclude any information that is irrelevant (out dated or disproved)
Select the most Appropriate Tools - This is the stage when you decide the most
appropriate tool that would best suit the presentation of this data, when its quantitative
data it tends to be a graph or chart, with these tools you can find patterns and trends in
the data.
Process and Analysis - This is the stage at which the data that has been collected is
entered into software and is analyzed, for example it can be entered into a pie chart to
find out what is the highest or lowest percentage for ages of men that ride bikes.
Record and Store Information - At this stage you write up a report on what you have
gathered from the previous stages, this goes over negatives and positives, making
conclusions from this data. This is then all stored and protected.
Share Results - This is the last stage of the process, this is when you share your
findings, in a report or a paper, to the people who hired you or to the community of the
field you work in.
