Describe the 3 important aspects WHMIS has. - Answer 1. Labelling: Products covered
by the WHMIS legislation must arrive from the supplier with a "supplier label" attached.
The label must have the distinctive border shown in the example and must have the
following seven pieces of information.
1. A product identifier (Name)
2. A product supplier including 24 hr contact number
3. A notice that more information available on MSDS
4. One or more of the hazard symbols.
5. Risk phrases the reinforce the visual hazard symbols.
6. Precautionary measures to take for protection against the potential harmful effects of
the material
7. First aid measures.
2. MSDS: A material safety data sheet must be supplied with each product under the
WHMIS legislation. These must be kept on file and be made available to anyone who
wishes to consult them.
