Hello everyone, I am Mariam Waseem and I will be presenting Vila Health Disaster Recovery

United States department of Homeland Security (DHS) works to improve security of the
United States. The department work includes emergency response to natural and manmade
disasters. FEMA (The Federal Emergency Management Agency) works under U.S. DHS. FEMA
supports citizens and emergency personnel to build, sustain, and improve the nation's capability
to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards[ CITATION
Dep20 \l 1033 ]. According to International Federation of Red Cross (2020), “A disaster is a
sudden, calamitous event that seriously disrupts the functioning of a community or society and
causes human, material, and economic or environmental losses that exceed the community's or
society's ability to cope using its own resources”[ CITATION Wha20 \l 1033 ]. Disasters include
but not limited to: earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, wildfires, landslides, lightening, air
crashes, or Tsunamis[ CITATION Nat191 \l 1033 ]. Recovery are the response activities that
occur before, during or after disastrous event. The disaster recovery process works on reinstating
and revitalizing communities impacted by the disaster such as the Vila Health Community. The
ideal disaster recovery plan involves a set of policies, tools and procedures to enable the recovery
of infrastructure and systems following a natural or human-induced disaster with no additional
problems[ CITATION Nat191 \l 1033 ]. The Villa Health Community underwent a natural
disaster that put them in need for recovery assistance. Post discussion with hospital and
community representatives, its been concluded that their disaster recovery plan needs to be
updated.
