Literature Analysis: Transportation Logistics Systems
Introduction
Transport sector proves is the backbone of economy of most countries across the world
hence, is of great concern. Most economic activities carried out in different countries depend on
the suitability of the transport sector in a particular nation. Besides, transportation of goods and
services is a broad term that caters for all processes involved in commodities, human, and
information from one particular geographical place to the other. The role of transport sector to
economy in various countries has been documented by several authors who have written detailed
reports on the importance of various sentiments of the transport sector, including the advantages
and the drawbacks in the sector. The ideas presented by different views on the importance of the
transport enables a good and a timely planning by most government from different nations. The
governments, through a well-organized transport sector, are capable of collecting large amount
of revenues that are in turn used in other developmental projects. However, there are five journal
articles discussed, presented by different authors, with the information on the transport
infrastructure and its influence and implications on the economy of various nations. The journal
articles are “Transportation Infrastructure and Economic Development”, “The Role of
transportation in the design and implementation of reversed logistics system”, “The impact of
collaborative transportation management on demand disruption of manufacturing supply chains”,
“The growth of private regulation of labor standards in global supply”, and “Generation of
logistic networks in freight transportation models”. The mentioned journal articles have varied
literatures that can be analyzed to arrive at a concrete decision on the importance of the
transportation infrastructure and logistics.
