ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD IMPLEMENTATION
Introduction
Medical technology changes every year, sometimes it feels like EHRs have daily updates.
EHRs databases promote a safe environment for healthcare professionals by facilitating
retrospective analysis of errors. Implementing a new electronic health record (EHR) system is a
grueling process that involved the whole hospital system from the floor to the boardroom. This
paper will discuss what it takes to roll out a new EHR system and the strong leadership skills it
takes to collaborate with interprofessional teams. To have a successful EHR system, you must
provide evidence-based, patient centered care and apply professional, ethical and regulatory
standards of practice to provide a safe and effective healthcare.
Key Information Needed in the Database to Track Opportunities for Care
Improvement
EHRs affect the entire healthcare community. EHRs are one of the key elements to
improving the healthcare system; they help to reduce medical errors and help to continue
improve the patients experience. EHRs are a distributed documentation system that enhances
the efficiency and effectiveness of a workflow.
This framework is a powerful patient medical record that is used throughout the whole
medical field between clients, physicians, hospitals and insurers. To successfully implement a
new EHR system among healthcare professionals and consumers; there are 4 components that
must be established to promote health, enhance disease management, provide evidence-based
treatment and prevent illness[ CITATION Alv15 \l 1033 ]. These include; 1) patient medical
record: The value of its shared information will help to facilitate informed decision making. 2)
Decision support system: Provides a useful service to healthcare professionals to strengthen the
selection of viable options by the way of alerts, reminders, and best treatment
