types of food nutrition and the type of food to be avoided reasonably, along with a day’s
nutritional facts in the form of a chart.
The basics of nutrition
We all require nutrients to maintain our healthy growth. Nutrients build and maintain
the body with tissues and provide them with energy. They also provide regulation of body
functions by getting rid of metabolism and blood pressure. These nutrients include
carbohydrates, minerals, proteins, fats, and vitamins.
Proteins
Proteins are body-building food that is essential in our bodies. Our body needs
proteins to repair body tissues. The amount of protein intake entirely depends on their daily
activity, body size, well-being, and age. Occasionally sick people require a high number of
proteins to build and maintain their body tissues.
Sources of proteins
Sources of proteins include; beef, fish, poultry, milk, eggs, legumes, nuts, pea butter,
seeds, shellfish, and soy products.
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are energy-giving food. It is a source of energy in our bodies by
providing it with fiber which is important in lowering cholesterol and digestion, starch and
sugars such as vegetables and fruits. There are different types of carbohydrates; complex and
simple carbohydrates. Grain products provide complex carbohydrates, while sugars provide
simple carbohydrates.
