Global pharmaceutical industry
This case study summarizes how ethical, political and legal predicaments affect the
pharmaceutical industry globally.
The global biopharmaceutical industry produces and develops medicine. Production is
then sold globally(Chaudhry, P. E. ,2019).. The firms are big industries widely spread in
Europe and other parts of the world. North America and Europe are famous for their
pharmaceutical production and sales. However, they are more promising countries when it
comes to the list of the most promising; the likes of China and Brazil. The biopharmaceutical
industry's actions face public attention
within the legal and national political system.
One main problem is the price rise of the importation of approved drugs. The action
taken by the government encourages cartels to import unapproved drugs. It hits the market,
creating international criticism against the producing firms. It led to public negativity towards
pharmaceutical firms and made, in turn, educated people on generic drugs. Several countries
were exposed to opt out if the firms were against their idea of buying their drugs at affordable
prices. Maintain public relations; firms were forced to offer drugs at a lower rate in
underdeveloped countries. to date, most pharmaceutical firms have offered millions of drugs
globally at a fair price.
Cost of research and development
Biopharmaceutical firms do all the work from creation, processing to marketing of
their numerous different drugs, which are globally in demand for treatment of different
diseases. Thanks to biopharmaceutical drugs, many people can live longer and enjoy a
healthy life. For successful drug production, it takes a lot of time to discover the right drug;
for instance, it takes 10-15 years to research a drug and its approval.
