TYPES OF MUSCLES ACCORDING TO
ARTICULATION
1)UNI ARTICULAR MUSCLES.
2)BI ARTICULAR MUSCLES.
3)MULTI ARTICULAR MUSCLES.
1) UNI-ARTICULAR MUSCLES:
The muscles that cross a single major
joint are called uni-articular muscles.
EXAMPLE: Tibialis anterior muscle.
FUNCTION: Dorsiflexes foot at ankle.
2) BI-ARTICULAR MUSCLES:
The muscles that cross two major joints
are called bi-articular muscles. They
contract and cause motion at either
one or both of its joints.
EXAMPLE: Biceps femoris.
FUNCTION: Flexes leg at knee and
extends thigh at hip.
