A) ACHIEVEMENT TEST - Achievement tests are test that are used to measure the knowledge acquired
before, during and after an instruction or series of instructions
Use or purpose of achievement tests.
i) For measuring the influence of prior learning
ii) For measuring individual's current behavior
iii) To predict future learning
iv) For diagnosing strength and weaknesses of an individual
v) It serves as a basis for awarding prizes, scholarships and certificates.
B) Intelligence Tests: An intelligence test is a test that is made up of questions or tasks, which are meant
to elicit information that will show the levels of intellectual functioning of the testes.
Uses or purposes of intelligence test
i) For measuring the general ability of an individual, that is, it is used for finding the area of excellence or
uniqueness of an individual in terms of whether he/she will be good for arts, science, business e.t.c
ii) For measuring whether an individual possesses the skill demanded by academic work or not.
.iii) it is used primarily for measuring the verbal ability of individual in a given area, that is, ability to
express what one knows meaningfully in words.
iv) For diagnosing adjustment and personality disorders.
v) For measuring ability to handle numerical, abstract and symbolic relations
C}Aptitude Test, Aptitude tests are tests used to predict future performance in manipulative skills such as
mechanical, musical, clerical and artistic pursuits among others.
Uses or purposes of aptitude test
1) To predict the quality of achievement in a new situation
2) To estimate the extent to which an individual will profit from a specified course or training
3) To show the cumulative effect of lots of experiences in daily living
D) Standardized test - A standardized test is a test that is prepared by the test and measurement experts
based on a particular syllabus or curriculum of instruction for a specified group of candidates.
