, I. METHODOLOGY
I.1. Time and Place
This practicum activity was carried out on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at
08.30 WIB. This practicum activity is located in the yard of my house in Harapan
Indah, Bekasi, West Java province. The air temperature at the time of the practicum
was 29o C.
I.2. Tools and Materials
The tools and materials used in this practicum were 6 plastic cups, planting
media (sand, soil, and compost), water, and shovel. Furthermore, there is also a
wooden stand as a tool used to put plastic cups. Lastly, the practicum tools needed
are cameras for documentation and stationery to record observations.
I.3. Work Steps
The following are the steps done in this practicum:
1. Prepare the tools and materials needed.
2. Make five holes in the bottom of the plastic cup. It serves as a place for water to flow.
3. Prepare the required planting media.
4. Put the planting medium into each plastic cup:
- Sand
- Compost
- Soil
- Sand & compost
- Sand & soil
- Compost & soil
5. Arrange the six plastic cups with various planting medium on a wooden support.
6. Prepare water with a volume of 50 ml or 100 ml in six plastic cups.
7. Slowly pour water into the planting medium.
8. Observe the movement of the water. For convenience, observations can be recorded
using a camera
9. Make a note of the results of these observations.
10. After that, let the planting media that has been watered for 2-4 hours.
11. Repeat the observations to identify the planting media whose surface appears to be dry
– moist.
12. Make a note and documentation of the results of these observations.
