1. Describe the process of perception as a series of steps, beginning with the
environmental stimulus and culminating in the behavioral responses of perceiving,
recognizing, and acting.
a. The environmental stimulus is produced by the perception of the subject, external
receptors received the information from the stimuli. For example, the subject is
thirsty and wants water, the subject it is observing a glass of water (Saylor Academy,
2012).
b. The responses and stimulus provided by the object that the subject is observing, is
transformed between the external stimulus receptor and the object in the environment.
For example, the glass of water is reflected in the retina through light, that image of
the glass of water is in the retina (Saylor Academy, 2012).
c. The process of transduction occurs. During this process the stimuli is transformed
into sensory information, sensory information that travels in our nerves. In this
process, four factors of the sensory information are translated by the sensory organs,
where the stimuli are, what type of stimuli its, where the stimuli are located, and
how intense the stimuli are to originate a reaction. For example, the glass of water
image in the retina, is transformed into electric sensory information, which travels in
our
nerves to the brain (Saylor Academy, 2012).
d. The neural process occurs. The sensory information is transmitted to the respective
areas of the brain using neuron. For example, the electric sensory information
traveling to our brain, is redirected to the respective are for recognition in this case
the occipital area (Saylor Academy, 2012).
e. The perception process occurs. In the perception process the subjects has his/her
unique interpretation of the sensation caused by the stimuli. During this process
