Abstract
The growing prevalence of obesity amongst adults and children is a major public health
challenge both nationally and internationally. Being overweight or obese can increase the risk of
developing a range of other health problems such as coronary heart disease (CHD), type 2
diabetes, some cancers, and stroke and reduce life expectancy. The concerns of obesity are not
limited to the direct impact on health. There is need for identification of major stakeholders in
the public health system in order to address the growing concern of obesity. Health care
organizations and health care providers are major stakeholders who should take an active role in
formulation and implementation of interventions to control and manage obesity. Effective
obesity management can be achieved through collaboration among the different stakeholders.
Patients are key stakeholders in obesity management, prevention and control. They should be
empowered to take an active role in obesity so that the interventions that are implemented can be
successful. Developing preventive measures in handling obesity is a clear, effective strategy
when considering that all stakeholders will be very much corporative efforts. However, it
important to understand the need or the total cost that is likely to be engaged in creating a clear
plan. The focus has been significantly on the underlying causes of obesity since it is much easier
to deal with the risk factors rather than obesity-related complications. Dietary modification is
important in obesity management through intake of healthy food choices. This can also be
reinforced by implementing nutritional education in order to promote proper diet. Physical
activity and lifestyle changes should also be encouraged to ensure effective weight management.
The organizational culture should support implementation of different strategies to improve
management and control of obesity. This involves use of locally available resources in the
prevention and management of obesity. The primary outcome is reduction in obesity cases and
this can be achieved through formulation of specific policies that will guide implementation of
obesity prevention interventions. The implementation of the proposed solution will be
undertaken in six major obesity treating hospitals. The subjects will be recruited after giving an
informed consent in order to participate in the implementation of the plan. Data collection will
take place for eight year and collection will be done using questionnaires administered on a
monthly basis.

Obesity and its Health Condition in the US
Background
Obesity is one of the major health concerns in the United States. The health condition is
becoming extremely common and is attributed as the chief cause of the rise in other related
sicknesses such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. As such, obesity is a pandemic that
has significant negative implications to not only general public health, but also healthcare
providers as well as financials and funding. The prevalent condition affects approximately one-
third of the adult population and approximately 17 percent of the young generation within the
US. Statistically, around 12 million kids and 78 million adults are obese:This can be seen as a
health condition of epidemic proportions. In a study carried out in 2013, the number of obese
adults remained significantly high, and all US states had obesity rates above 21 percent. The
states showing a rise in obesity comprise Idaho, Delaware, New Jersey, Alaska, Wyoming, and
Tennessee (Kim & Basu, 2016). In this case, the significant obese population within the US
warrantsimmediate attention, mostly because this phenomenonhas the potential of affecting the
overall productivity of the country arising from increased costs in addressing the condition.In the
view of the dynamic changes in lifestyles, there has been a paradigm shift in statistics from how
it used to be in late 20th century and early 21st century. Statistically, 24% of men and 25% of
women are obese. Therefore, there are two critical ways that obesity can be controlled and this
include through lifestyle change or bariatric surgery.

As this is a national problem, various stakeholders or change agents are involved.
Healthcare organizations and providers are affected since obese patientsrequire extensive
