There are people in society who need different forms of help to be able to sustain
themselves. Failure to get the needed help could have catastrophic turn out of events on their
health. In this context, the government plays a major role in making sure that all the citizens’
needs are well catered for to realize the best possible health conditions for everyone. The united
states of America government is not an exception when it comes to the aspect of ascertaining that
the people in the society who need help can get it. This is because of the introduction of the
women, infants, and children (WIC) program in different states of the country. Due to this, local,
state, and national policies could significantly influence the health of the citizens regarding the
government services that they receive. As such, the (WIC) program is primarily meant to help
pregnant women, infants, and children in the aspect of health and nutrition.
In this case, there are different states in the US that have a variance when it comes to the
regulation set in place in regards to the women, infants, and children program. These regulations
are meant to control who is eligible for the program, among other different elements (Oliveira,
2009). However, the main focus of this paper will be how the program is to evaluate the impact
of the WIC program across local, state, and national levels by focusing on birth outcomes,
healthcare costs, instant feeding practices and immunization rates of children. It is evident that
the program has had a lot of impacts on these four areas by making it possible for pregnant
women, infants, and children to have access to essential nutrition products. Moreover, the
program has also provided information about different nutrition to help in ascertaining that
people live nutritiously across different states, and therefore, the program has brought about a lot
of positive effects.
