Most ancient stories are always centered around the element of the morals they teach in
regard to the characters involved. One of the theological stories is the Aeneid by Virgil, which is
about Aeneas, while the other is taken from the book of Mark in the bible and is about Jesus.
Both accounts seem to have a theological perspective considering that there are supreme beings
in both. Moreover, another striking element is that there are two people who were sent to change
the way people were living in regard to moral values. The first of the two was the Aeneid, which
was produced before the biblical account of the life of Jesus. As such, this paper will compare
Jesus and Aeneas by using quotes from both books to show the comparison in regards to the
elements of salvation, delegation, and how the two served as role models. Even though there are
some few differences between the book of Mark and the Aenied by virgil, it is expected that
Virgil would agree with Mark’s model of leadership since they both seem to present their
different arguments while targeting a common goal which is salvation for mankind.
Jesus, in his mission, served as a role model taking into account that he came to how
Christians a proper way of living and, as such, used himself as an example. To do this, he had to
demonstrate the aspect of faith, which would guide people into conforming to the ways of God.
This is shown by the verse in Mark 4: 38 "But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and
they woke him up and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" This
happened when they were in a boat, and there were strong winds and waves that showed that the
boat might capsize and, therefore, end up killing everyone. However, the nature in which Jesus
handles the situation shows that he has great faith in God since he ordered the storm to stop
without showing signs of fear. This was meant to serve as an example of how people should
illustrate faith, therefore, serving as a proper role model to the people he came to change.
