Over time, many people have tried to come up with different theories that show why the
world works the way it does. In this case, some of these theories explore human behaviors and
their basic instincts to do different things and behave in a particular way to different
circumstances. However, even though these theorists provide proper arguments to support their
theories, their perceptions regarding the issues they are addressing cannot be termed as the
axiomatic truth since the theories can be questioned. However, when there is less or no evidence
to support the idea that the concepts are wrong, they end up being accepted as the truth. One of
the most notable theories is the conflict theory, which was suggested by Karl Max in regards to
how the society works. In this context, this paper will explore the strengths and weaknesses of
the conflict theory by Karl Max.
The conflict theory states that conflict in society is brought about by the competition for
limited resources (Campbell, T. 1981, 9). This theory, therefore, seeks to associate human
conflicts to the fight for different resources in their daily lives. Moreover, this theory describes
not only the competition for resources on an individual person perspective but also a collective
group in which the group shares a similar interest, which is about benefiting themselves and, at
times, at the expense of other groups or individuals. In this context, the competition for limited
resources is mainly centered around the element of economy (Crossman, A. 2019). Moreover,
this theory can be used to explain a wide range of issues such as wars, wealth, poverty, and
discrimination in the society. However, the theory proposes that social order is maintained
through domination and power rather than consensus and conformity.
One strength of the theory is that it gives an accurate explanation of the source of the
conflicts that occur in the world. In this context, it can be seen that many of the conflicts seem to
have an economic angle with people struggling for resources in their daily lives. This concept
